The ice is gone. The days are getting longer. Warming temperatures and the site of open water are calling you to the water.
The boat isn’t launched yet. The dock isn’t even in the water. There’s some muck removal to be done in the beach area then the dock can be rolled back in and then the boat can be launched either when the main launch opens or when the neighbor launches their boat so you can borrow their ramp.
Yes, there are many chores to be done as the yard, gardens, beach and lake aware from winter. Still, there must be some fishing that can be done while we wait to get out on the boat, right?
Bank fishing to the rescue. I can get fish right from the shore at my home but it isn’t a very productive spot. I can hike downstream from the dam and fish the stream or the lower pond where there are some fish (see prior post for a chain pickerel that came from that area). I also live within a few miles of a pretty good trout river.
So that is how I’m fitting a bit of fishing in among the other chores as I get ready for Spring and Summer. A little bank fishing at and near home and some wading in the trout river nearby. Pre-spawn baits and techniques at home, nymphs and inline spinners at the river.
With a little luck there will be some nice success story photos here soon. In the meantime, the image here is Google’s Gemini Generative AI’s take on the scene.
