I won! In case you wondered if anyone actually wins anything from fishing blogs that have random drawings, I can say yes. At least in the case of Wired2Fish. I recently one a nice assortment of Smeltinator Elite Series Jigs from Northland Fishing Tackle and Wired2Fish.
With the lake iced over but not solid enough for ice fishing, these are just nice to look at for now. They are making me extra anxious for ice out so I can put them to work.
From the package:
“The Bassmaster Classic winning Smeltinator Jig is the creation of Canadian Angler Bryan Gustafson. It wouldn’t be what it is today without a 20+ year relationship with Bassmaster Elite Series pro Jeff Gustafson and Northland Tackle founder John Peterson. The Smeltinator was designed to give anglers a premium minnow head that perfectly imitates slender baitfish across the Northern US and Canada. As Bryan started creating jigs, he consulted with John on the manufacturing process, and the Smeltinator was born. After dominating the Canadian Tournament scene for several years, Jeff Gustafson won more than $400,000 through B.A.S.S. including the 2023 Bassmaster Classic. In 2023, Bryan licensed the Smeltinator manufacturing rights to Northland Tackle and reunited the three elements that brought this jig to life and made it famous.”
I’m excited to try these. A lot of the baits and tackle that get a lot of coverage online aren’t necessarily great for fishing here in New England. These are made for this part of the continent. I have several soft baits that should work well on these already.
The jigs come with Gamakatsu hooks ranging from 2/0 on thr 1/4 oz. through 4/0 on the 1/2 oz. The assortment they sent includes several colors and sizes of the regular Smeltinator and three sizes of the Smeltinator Underspin with grey heads and nickel plated willow blades.
